I designed, plan, and conducted the user research, I ideated the solutions, wireframed, prototyping, and iterated on the design based on the insights from the research.
User Research
I conducted 1 on 1 interviews to empathize with users and understand their problems and needs. A primary user group identified through research was young students and working adults who don’t have time to wait while ordering breakfast or coffee at the bakery.
This user group confirmed initial assumptions about the current experience of Memphis customers, however other problems and needs were also identified such, as knowing the ingredients of the food, especially for costumer that are allergic to some ingredients, and being able to view the menu options quickly and easy.
Design
Ideation started by exploring and drawing ideas of iterations for the menú and filtering feature. Designing an intuitive food menu navigation was priority one, so users could quickly and easily select and order from the app.
The goal was a clean screen so the user can navigate quickly through the app and directly to the food menu.
The day special image creates emphasis, and the favorites option offers a quicker step for regular clients.

Usability studies
After conducting 2 rounds of usability studies, findings from the first study helped guide the designs from wireframes to mockups. The second study made on a high-fidelity prototype allowed us to identify aspects of the design that need refinement for a better user experience.
Round 1 findings:
-
Users found it easy to choose a normal drink and complete the order.
-
Some users confused the milk icon in the allergens with a drink selection.
-
Users find it hard to search and order a lactose-free drink.
Round 2 findings:
-
Users were confused about how to navigate the food menu categories.
-
Senior users said the text of the allergens icons was too small.
-
Completing the ordering process was quick and easy.
